UNIDO ITPO Italy joins Smart Energy Summit by ANGI

UNIDO ITPO Italy took part in the Smart Energy Summit, held on 15th November 2022 in Rome at the Office of the European Parliament in Italy and organized by the Italian National Association of Young Innovators (ANGI) in partnership with Terna.

The conference was opened by the Director of the European Parliament in Italy Mr. Carlo Corazza and the Director General of the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers Mr. Francesco Tufarelli, followed by two roundtables on the themes of innovation and sustainability with UNIDO ITPO Italy and representatives of relevant business stakeholders – including Italian startups operating in the field of energy and digitalization – as well as academia, among which the Italian National Research Council (CNR) and the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA).

During his speech at the conference, UNIDO ITPO Italy’s Investment Promotion Expert Mr. Andrea Carapellese briefly illustrated the role of the Organization in the implementation of projects with a strong focus on access to renewable energies in developing countries, stressing the importance of win-win partnerships with the private sector and stakeholders involved in development cooperation by starting from an approach based on energy as enabler for food, education and health, as well as on innovation as strategic element for leapfrogging to fill the gaps in developing countries.

Also in his interview on the sidelines of the conference, Mr. Carapellese highlighted UNIDO's work on innovation and access to innovative green energy technologies - mentioning the newest frontiers such as green hydrogen - and how UNIDO ITPO Italy promotes investment and technology transfer in the field between Italy and targeted developing countries, harnessing Italian state-of-the-art technologies to generate significant opportunities for co-development.
